A quick look at the Sentry safe company

The Sentry safe company manufactures a range of high-quality safes for the consumer, small business, and corporate market. They produce both rudimentary security safes, more robust safes fortified to withstand certain extreme conditions, and specialized safes designed to cater for specific contents. Their product range covers nearly the entire range of types and price points.

Fire safes by Sentry :

Sentry safes offer a range of different designs built to withstand extreme conditions. Depending on what they are designed to withstand they are given a certain rating. To confirm the veracity of their rating, they submit their safes for testing with an independent fire tester: Underwriters Laboratories. With their ratings confirmed by UL Sentry fire safes carry one of 6 different ratings.

•  Half-hour Fire Endurance test
The safe is subjected to a temperature of 1550°F (843°C) for a period of 30 minutes. The inside temperature of the safe never exceeds 350°F (177°C). Safes with this rating are designed to protect documents in a fire.

•  Half-hour Class 125 test
The safe is subjected to a temperature of 1550°F (843°C) for a period of 30 minutes. The inside temperature of the safe never exceeds 125°F (52°C) and may not exceed 80% humidity. Sentry fire safes with this rating are designed to protect digital devices and media during a fire, which have a much lower tolerance for heat and humidity.

•  One-hour Fire Endurance test
The safe is subjected to a temperature of 1700°F (927°C) for a period of 60 minutes. The inside temperature of the safe never exceeds 350°F (177°C). Safes with this rating are designed to protect documents in an intense fire.

•  Two-hour Fire Endurance test
The safe is subjected to a temperature of 1850°F (1010°C) for a period of 120 minutes. The inside temperature of the safe never exceeds 350°F (177°C). Safes with this rating are designed to protect documents in a very serious fire.

•  Explosion Hazard test
The safe is subjected to a temperature of 2000°F (1093°C) for a period of 20 minutes. There is no requirement for the inside temperature of the safe, however, the safe does not explode or otherwise rupture. Safes with this rating are designed to remain locked in an extreme fire.

•  Fire Impact test
The safe is subjected to a temperature of 1550°F (843°C) for a period of 30 minutes, before being dropped from a height of 30 feet (9.144m) into rubble, before being allowed to cool. It is then again heated to a temperature of 1550°F (843°C) for an additional period of 30 minutes. The inside temperature of the safe must never exceed 350°F (177°C), and the safe must remain locked and intact. Sentry fireproof Safes with this most extreme rating are designed to withstand an extreme fire that levels a multi-story building, while protecting documents inside.

Gun safes by Sentry :

Sentry gun safes come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. They manufacture safes suitable for up to five rifles on the lower end of the scale, right up to large safes that can store up to 24 rifles. It is possible to buy most of these safes with one of the above listed fire ratings.
